In 2015 the artists Nicole Harry and Marta Troya started a series of collaborative research artworks termed Life Practice Series. The works attempt to revaluate the division between an artist’s practice and his life through a series of situational performances that question living as an art form. The LPS include the Wandering Book Club and House Rules.
During the Wandering Book Club, Nicole and Marta carry out artistic research while setting up an outdoor mobile reading group that encourages the public to participate in the performance. The work aims to demonstrate that, if taken outside the box, the investigation and study of art has the potential to create a narrative that can be as relevant as the final outcome. In other words the artistic journey, and the serendipitous individuals that participate in it, are equally important as the destination.
